The 3 Days Mount Meru Climb is a short but adventurous trek to Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, reaching Socialist Peak (4,566m). Located inside Arusha National Park, this climb offers a unique combination of mountain trekking and wildlife viewing. It is ideal for fit hikers and for travelers preparing for Mount Kilimanjaro acclimatization.
During this trek, you will walk through open grasslands, lush forests, and alpine scenery while enjoying breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the Meru Crater, and the Great Rift Valley.

Your Mount Meru adventure begins at Momella Gate after registration and meeting your armed ranger. The trek starts through open grassland and forest, where you may spot giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, zebras, and monkeys along the way.
As you gain altitude, the trail becomes more scenic, offering beautiful views of Mount Meru’s slopes and the surrounding park. You will arrive at Miriakamba Hut, where you can relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the next day.

Elevation: 2,514m → 3,570m
Distance: ~8 km
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
After breakfast, the trail continues through dense forest before opening into alpine vegetation. You will enjoy stunning views of the Meru Crater, Ash Cone, and distant Mount Kilimanjaro on clear days.
The hike is shorter, allowing time for acclimatization. In the afternoon, you may take a short acclimatization walk to Little Meru (3,820m) to help your body adjust to the altitude.
Overnight: Saddle Hut
Elevation: 3,570m → 4,566m → 1,500m
Distance: ~19 km
Hiking Time: 10–12 hours
You begin the summit attempt around midnight, trekking along a narrow ridge with dramatic views into the Meru Crater. As the sun rises, you will reach Socialist Peak (4,566m), where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the surrounding plains, and the crater below.
After celebrating your summit success, descend back to Saddle Hut for a short rest, then continue down to Momella Gate, where your Mount Meru climb officially ends.
