Arusha National Park is an easily accessible park that offers unique experiences for guests wanting to get closer to nature, While leaving your game drive vehicle outside of campsites and lodges may be forbidden in most national parks in Tanzania, Arusha National Park offers guided walks with an armed ranger. Arusha National Park lies 30.5 km from Arusha in northern Tanzania. It’s about a 45 minutes drive from there.
The Park is nested on the foothills of Mount Meru, the Africa’s most beautiful volcanoes and fifth highest peak.
Only 45 minutes’ drive from Arusha City centre, one find this beautifully Park.
Mount Meru make an ideal high-altitude acclimatization warm up before conquering the Kili.
The Park offer way too much attractions compared to its area
The unforgiving landscapes of Mount Meru and Ash cone, scenic view of Momella Lakes, tropical forest glades,Ngurdoto Crater are just a few
Visitors to this Park will have opportunities to do game viewing ,ride a horse ,climb the mount Meru as well as do organized walks with a ranger!
Despite the small size of the park, common animals include giraffe, Cape buffalo, zebra, warthog, the black-and-white colobus monkey, the blue monkey, flamingo, elephant, bushbuck and many other African animals. Leopard populations are present, but rarely seen.
The first time you spot the rusty brown of the bushbuck standing in the grass mere meters from the path you are walking is a truly magic moment. You may also encounter a herd of buffalo grazing as little as 20-30 meters away. While these magnificent animals rightfully inspire awe with their sheer size: they can, after all, weigh as much as a ton. Such encounters are totally safe in the company of one of the experienced rangers of Arusha National Park. Giraffe, elephant, antelopes, and even the secretive leopard can be spotted in the mountain woods of the Arusha Park leaving you with memories that will surely be cherished for the rest of your life.
Visitors may choose the duration of the walk, and the difficulty of the route. Walks begin in across a plain, where visitors may see herds of zebra or distant cape buffalo. The walk continues toward the forest at the foot of Mount Meru, where there is a good chance of spotting giraffe munching on acacia trees. The walk ends with Ulyulyusya waterfall, a magnificent cascade coming directly from the Mountain.
While it is one of the smaller parks, Arusha National Park offers many attractions: Arusha Waterfall and Ngurdoto Crater. While the latter is only three kilometers across, it is so reminiscent of Ngorongoro Crater that the locals call it Ngorongoro’s younger brother. The Momella Lakes are a unique attraction that allows for canoeing: a great way to get closer to the pink flamingoes that feed in the shallows.
Arusha National Park is also home to the majestic Mount Meru. Standing at 4566 meters, this dormant volcano is the fifth-highest point in all of Africa. It is a popular destination for those who enjoy the challenge of climbing, or preparation for climbing nearby Mount Kilimanjaro.
