The 4 Days Calving Safari takes you to the heart of the Great Wildebeest Migration during one of its most dramatic and beautiful seasons the calving period. This safari is specially designed to maximize your chances of witnessing thousands of wildebeests giving birth across the vast short-grass plains of Ndutu and the Southern Serengeti.
From January to March, the Ndutu area becomes the center of the migration, with newborn calves appearing in massive numbers each day. During this period, the plains are filled with life, and the action is intense as predators gather in high concentrations. Cheetahs, lions, hyenas, and leopards take advantage of the abundance of young calves, creating thrilling wildlife moments and unmatched photography opportunities.

After Breakfast, Your safari will begin by 8 AM in the morning with a pick up from your hotel in Arusha and heading towards the Ndutu region. The drive to Ndutu is about 6 hours covering a distance of 260 Kms. About 3.5 hours after leaving Arusha, you will enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (Ngorongoro) where you will notice the landscape changing from hilly forests to plain and green grasslands.
Once you reach Ndutu you will begin a half day game drive with a convenient stop for your picnic lunch. Sweeping grasslands cover the region which gradually fade into the Serengeti. Ndutu forms a part of the route for the annual migration of more than 2 million wildebeests and thousands of zebra, antelope and gazelle through the Serengeti eco system. During game drives between December and April, you will be able to see the great migration in this region. Between Mid Jan and Mar, calving happens here and it attracts hordes of predators prying on vulnerable young wildebeest. Crested with Lake Ndutu and Lake Masek, these waterholes offer plenty of wildlife game during the dry season.
After breakfast, today you will be following the migration depending on its location. During game drives at the right season between December and April, you will be able to see the fertile plains turn into calving grounds and nursery for the great migration. This season attracts hordes of predators preying on vulnerable young wildebeest. Watching the circle of life take its course will be an unforgettable experience etched for life. The action-packed game drive will end late in the evening . You will now head towards your choice of accommodation, where a freshly prepared dinner awaits you. Ensure you get some good rest and recharge yourself for another eventful day.
After breakfast, stunned by the previous day’s spotting of the migration, today you get another chance to view the beautiful wildlife spectacle. The Ndutu region is a part of the glorious Serengeti National Park as well as the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCAA). You can either have a relaxed breakfast and depart for full day game drives , with packed lunch and return back to lodge late afternoon. Or you can depart at 6:00 AM on an early morning game drive. Later return to accommodation for breakfast and relax for a bit and depart on an afternoon game drive with packed lunch.
After a leisurely breakfast, set off for a short farewell game drives on this last leg of your safari, following drive to Ndutu airstrip for a domestic scheduled flight to Arusha. Upon arrival, you will meet your driver, following transfer to a Hotel in Arusha for hot lunch and after a rest, you will be dropped off to Kilimanjaro international airport. With an incredible experience and loads of memories to cherish, this is the time you bid goodbye to your team.
