This 5 Days Serengeti Safari begins in Tarangire, a hidden gem famous for its giant elephant herds and ancient baobab trees, before continuing to the world-renowned Serengeti, home to the legendary Great Migration and the Big Five. Day by Day

DAY 1: ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha, followed by a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, which takes about 2.5 to 3 hours. Upon arrival, you start your first game drive through the park, which is famous for its massive elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and rich wildlife diversity. You may encounter lions resting in the shade, giraffes feeding on acacia trees, and large herds of zebras and wildebeest moving across the plains.

Around midday, you enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park at a designated site while observing wildlife nearby. In the afternoon, you continue exploring different sections of the park, especially along the Tarangire River, where animals gather to drink. Later in the evening, you exit the park and transfer to Marera Valley Lodge for dinner and overnight in  Karatu.

After breakfast, you depart for the world-famous Serengeti National Park, traveling through the scenic Ngorongoro highlands within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey takes approximately 6 to 8 hours, with beautiful landscapes of rolling hills, Maasai villages, and wildlife along the way.

You enjoy a packed lunch en route before entering Serengeti through Naabi Hill Gate. Once inside, your first afternoon game drive begins in the central Serengeti (Seronera Valley), one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Africa. Here, you may spot lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and large herds of herbivores across the open plains. In the evening, you arrive at KumbuKumbu Tented Camp in Serengeti for dinner and overnight stay.

This day is fully dedicated to exploring the vast plains of Serengeti National Park. You begin with an early morning game drive when predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas are most active. The sunrise over the savannah creates perfect conditions for wildlife photography and unforgettable sightings.

After returning for breakfast or a bush breakfast, you continue with mid-morning and afternoon game drives across different habitats including rivers, grasslands, and rocky kopjes. You may witness the Big Five, including elephants, buffalo, and possibly even black rhinos depending on location.

Seasonal wildebeest migration herds may also be seen crossing the plains. A picnic lunch is enjoyed in the bush under acacia trees before continuing your safari experience until sunset. You return to KumbuKumbu Tented Camp in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

After an early breakfast, you enjoy a final morning game drive in Serengeti National Park, taking in last chances to spot predators and grazing herds before departing. You then drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with wildlife sightings along the way as you exit the plains.

A stop at Maasai Boma may be included for a culture activities. By afternoon, you arrive at your lodge located on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, where you enjoy breathtaking views over the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. The rest of the evening is spent at Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp where you will be enjoying dinner and preparing for the final safari day inside the crater.

The final day begins early with a descent into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This natural wildlife sanctuary offers one of the best chances to see the Big Five in a single location. During your game drive, you may spot black rhinos, large prides of lions, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, and hippos in the crater lakes, along with flamingos and other bird species.

After a picnic lunch near the hippo pool, you begin your ascent and drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon or evening. This marks the end of your unforgettable 5-day Serengeti safari adventure.
