Day by Day

ARRIVAL DAY: MOSHI KILIMANJARO

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where you are met after passing through customs. You will be Transferred to Maridadi Hotel in Moshi and have a comprehensive briefing and equipment check with your climbing manager and your guide.

2385m to 2780m, Distance: 7 km / 4.3 miles, 4-5 hours

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel around 08:00am and driven to the Lemosho Gate on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. After registration and park formalities, the trek begins through the beautiful and untouched rainforest of the Lemosho Glades. This section of the 6 Days Lemosho Route is rich in wildlife, with chances to see monkeys and exotic birds. The trail is gentle and scenic, allowing your body to start adapting to altitude as you walk steadily to Big Tree Camp, where you will spend your first night on the mountain.

2780 m to 3900 m, Distance: 16.5 km / 10.3 miles, 9–11 hours

Today is a longer and more demanding day as you leave the forest behind and enter the open moorland zone. The trail climbs gradually across the Shira Plateau, passing through Shira 1 Camp with stunning views of Kibo Peak often floating above the clouds. Parts of the route are steep, but the pace remains slow and steady to support acclimatization. As you approach Shira 2 Camp, you will enjoy incredible views of the Northern Ice Fields and vast volcanic landscapes. This day plays a key role in altitude adaptation on the 6 Days Lemosho Route.

3900m to 3960m, 10 km / 6.2 miles, 6-7 hours

The day starts with an ascent through alpine desert terrain, walking beneath the glaciers of the Western Breach. You will climb to Lava Tower (4,640m), the highest point of the day, where lunch is served. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy is excellent for acclimatization. After lunch, the trail descends steeply into the Great Barranco Valley. Barranco Camp is set beneath towering cliffs and offers dramatic views, making it one of the most scenic camps.

360m t0 4640, 3 km / 1.9 miles, 3-4 hours

You begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall. Though steep, it is non-technical and very rewarding, offering incredible views once you reach the top. The route then continues across valleys and ridges toward Barafu Camp. The landscape becomes barren and rocky as altitude increases. Upon arrival at Barafu Camp, you will rest, hydrate, and prepare for summit night. An early dinner is served before you attempt to sleep, as wake-up time will be around midnight.

4640m, to 5895m to 3790m, 15 km total, 5–6 hours ascent, 5–6 hours descent.

Around midnight, you begin the most challenging and rewarding part of the 6 Days Lemosho Route. The ascent is slow and steady under the stars, passing Stella Point before reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Standing at the summitis an unforgettable achievement. After photos and celebration, you begin a long descent down to Millennium Camp, passing back through Barafu Camp. The lower altitude and warmer air provide much-needed relief after summit day.

3790m to 1630m, 12.1 km / 7.5 miles, 5- 6 hours.

A gentle descent takes you through lush rainforest toward Mweka Gate. Here, you complete park formalities and receive your official Kilimanjaro summit certificates. Afterward, you are transferred back to your hotel in Moshi, where a hot shower and comfortable bed await—a perfect end to your adventure.
