Detailed Itinerary

Day by Day

DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN ARUSHA - REST,ORIENTATION & SAFARI PREPARATION

Upon arrival in Arusha, you will be welcomed and transferred to your lodge, where the atmosphere is calm and refreshing after your journey. The rest of the afternoon is dedicated to relaxation—guests often enjoy the gardens, swimming pool, or views of Mount Meru while recovering from travel.

Later in the evening, your safari guide will hold a detailed briefing. This includes an introduction to the northern safari circuit, safety guidelines, and what wildlife to expect in each park. You’ll also have time to prepare cameras, gear, and ask questions, ensuring you feel fully ready for the adventure ahead. Dinner is served at the lodge in a relaxed setting.

After breakfast, depart for Tarangire National Park. Upon entry, your first game drive begins immediately, introducing you to the park’s iconic landscapes of baobab trees, open savannah, and seasonal swamps.

Throughout the day, you will explore different sections of the park, focusing on the Tarangire River, which attracts large concentrations of wildlife. Expect close sightings of elephants, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, and various antelope species. Your guide will explain animal behavior, migration patterns within the ecosystem, and predator-prey interactions. A picnic lunch is enjoyed at a scenic spot before continuing the afternoon drive. In the late afternoon, head to Marera Valley Lodge for relaxation and a warm dinner.

After an early breakfast, begin your drive toward Serengeti National Park. The journey itself is a major part of the safari experience, passing through the Great Rift Valley, Ngorongoro Highlands, and Maasai villages. You may stop for photography or short cultural interactions along the way.

Upon entering the Serengeti, your first game drive begins en route to your camp. This is an exciting moment as the landscape opens into endless plains filled with wildlife. Expect to see herds of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and possibly predators like lions or cheetahs. Arrive at Into The Wild Serengeti Camp in the evening, where you will enjoy dinner and the sounds of the African wilderness at night.

Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the central Serengeti (Seronera area). Early morning game drives are the highlight, when predators are most active. You may witness lions returning from a hunt, leopards resting in acacia trees, or cheetahs scanning the plains for prey.

After a mid-morning break at camp, continue with an afternoon game drive covering different habitats such as river valleys, kopjes (rock formations), and open grasslands. The Serengeti is also rich in elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. Every drive offers something new, making this one of the most exciting days of your safari.

Start the day with a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, maximizing your chances of spotting wildlife before departure. After breakfast, begin your scenic drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Along the way, you may encounter wildlife outside the park boundaries, including Maasai pastoral scenes and sweeping highland landscapes. The change in environment—from open plains to cooler highlands—is striking. Arrive at your lodge on the crater rim in the late afternoon. The evening is spent enjoying panoramic views and a peaceful dinner overlooking the crater below.

Descend early into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. The early morning descent offers breathtaking views into the crater floor, often covered in mist.

Once inside, the safari becomes a concentrated wildlife experience. You will explore grasslands, lakes, forests, and swamps all within a single ecosystem. Expect excellent chances of seeing the Big Five, including the rare black rhino. Lions are commonly seen in this area, along with large herds of buffalo and elephants. A picnic lunch is enjoyed near a hippo pool before continuing exploration in the afternoon. Later, ascend the crater and return to your lodge for relaxation.

After breakfast, begin your journey back to Arusha. Along the way, you may stop at craft markets or Maasai villages for optional cultural experiences, where travelers can learn about traditional lifestyles and purchase handmade souvenirs.

Depending on your flight schedule, enjoy a relaxed lunch or short city stop before transferring to the airport. This marks the end of your unforgettable Northern Tanzania safari adventure.
